Body Image & Unlocking Your Authentic Self

Tuesday 24 May 2022, 6pm-8pm GMT || Pho, 3 Great Titchfield Street, London, W1W 8AX

We exist in a society that places great emphasis on our external appearance. It is sadly not surprising to learn that many people suffer with chronic low self-esteem and mental health challenges that are informed by negative body image.

It is critical to understand how body image can influence our day-to-day thoughts and behaviour and have a significant impact on the way we relate to ourselves and others.

The theme of body image is personal, challenging and stigmatised. This workshop aims to raise awareness, cultivate compassion and create positive change, in both our personal and professional lives.

This workshop ran by Pippa Richardson will help attendees to:

  • Consider the way they relate to their body. We will discuss the importance of body image and identify what informs the belief systems and perceptions we have about ourselves.

  • Understand how body image affects our actions and behaviour. With a brief overview of neuroplasticity (the brains ability to change for better or for worse) we will identify how negative thoughts promote unhelpful behaviours. We will explore how we can create new habits that better support our wellbeing and healthy body image.

  • Develop self-compassion. We will explore the importance of being compassionate to ourselves and others and how this relates to our overall wellbeing and resilience and relationships (both in our personal and professional lives). We will identify situations where we may not be very compassionate to ourselves (often a subconscious response) and look at practical ways we can introduce more self-compassion into our every day lives.

  • Through mindful practices, attendees will explore how to develop a positive mind-set, cultivate self-acceptance and leave with a renewed sense of appreciation for their body.
