I’m Stella and I’m a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr), while I also hold the Graduate Basis for Chartership with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I specialise in Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating and Emotional Eating. Currently, I’m working as a Nutrition Analyst, whilst, I’m taking webinars into Intuitive and Mindful Eating Approaches.

I have obtained a first class Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) in Nutrition from Oxford Brookes University and a Master’s degree (MSc) in Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition at UCL. I also holds a distinction MSc in Psychology as a conversion course from the University of the Arts, in London, where I focus my research projects around the wellbeing in Fashion industry, the prevalence of Eating Disorders and related disordered-eating behaviours and physical appearance/body image concerns; as experienced by professional fashion models.

My professional background reflects to a combination of research-based experience and collaborations with numerous external organizations, in clinical and industrial settings.

I use Mindful Eating practices in order to enable individuals develop a long lasting relationship with food as well as a healthy relationship between their body and body.

How did you hear about Mentoring Young Creatives?

I’ve been in touch with Be Well Collective for my very last research piece, thus I heard about the Mentoring Young Creatives directly from their newsletter.

Why do you want to be a Mentor on the Mentoring Young Creatives programme?

Being a Mentor on the Mentoring Young Creatives programme will enable me to share my knowledge around nutrition, wellbeing and body image. I aim to share my knowledge and skills with people who are more vulnerable. I aim to help those people to develop a healthy and mindful relationship with food by creating strong-bonds between their mind and their body.

What past experiences do you have which you believe will help you to mentor a young person in the creative industries?

I have two years of research experience across the fashion industry and fashion models; which made me become very familiar with the different situations in the profession. I now acknowledge the circumstances individuals from the industry have to face and I’ve learned how can I help them overcome difficult or stressful situations. After I’ve been in touch with different professional models from all over the world, I give much focus on the overall wellbeing of the employees, including their eating behaviours and body image perceptions. On top of that, I focus on their anxiety levels when it comes to their looks, as we are talking about a profession who focuses on appearance.

I use Mindful Eating practices in order to enable individuals develop a long lasting relationship with food as well as a healthy relationship between their body and body.

What do you hope to achieve from the Mentoring Young Creatives programme?

Through the Mentoring Young Creatives programme I aim to raise awareness across the fashion and modelling industry with regards to Mental & Physical Health issues. I aim to help developing a ‘healthy’ life for the employees of the industry.

What are you most excited about in starting the Mentoring Young Creatives programme?

I’m excited to help professionals from the fashion and creative industries to overcome their insecurities; whether that has to do with their body, weight or shape appearance, food behaviour, self-esteem or self-confidence.  I’m even more excited being part of this first set of mentors and such inspiring programme created by the Be Well Collective.

How do you think your career and health would have been affected had you had the opportunity to be mentored early in your career?

Mentoring is key. Especially in your very first steps in your career. I was a lucky one and I had frequent supervision as a nutritionist. Supervision helped me to grow professionally and personally, thus I aim to mentor young creatives and help them develop healthy relationships between their body and mind which will reflect healthy eating behaviours and ensure high quality wellbeing as professionals of the fashion and other creative industries.
