I’m Sam Webb. I have been a model for over 15 years working various agencies and brands all over the world. I have covered a wide range of different aspects of the industry from runway to campaigns to commercials. I was scouted in my hometown of Birmingham by select model management at the age of 19. I was not aware men modelled and had no ambitions of being a model but realized a great opportunity.

How did you hear about Mentoring Young Creatives?

Through Sarah Ann, who I have known for a number of years.

Why do you want to be a Mentor on the Mentoring Young Creatives programme?

Throughout my career I have always really appreciated the information and experiences of “older” models. I have been lucky enough to have had various unofficial mentors guiding me through my career. I would love to pass on my experiences and help the younger generation to avoid some of the pitfalls of the industry.

What past experiences do you have which you believe will help you to mentor a young person in the creative industries?

I think I can really help a young person gain a different , potentially wider  perspective of the situations they find themselves. From my experiences in the modeling industry  I can help give them a sense of control and some skills I have seen and used to help them through some tough times.

What do you hope to achieve from the Mentoring Young Creatives programme?

I really hope I can guide and help someone be happy and healthy and successful in their career.

What are you most excited about in starting the Mentoring Young Creatives programme?

I am really excited to share some of my experiences and see someone gain confidence and be successful in whatever they choose to do.

How do you think your career and health would have been affected had you had the opportunity to be mentored early in your career?

I was lucky enough to have a close group of friends and unofficial mentors throughout my career. They would often help put when I was “stepping off track”. I am very excited to be that helping hand in whatever capacity.

What is the best piece of advice that you have been given by a mentor/colleague/friend?

Don’t be afraid to talk to people and always strive to be happy. Smile and wave.
