My name is Amber Le Bon. I’ve been modelling for 14 years. I’ve also been DJing at private events for around 10 years. I started modelling once I left school as an interim until I decided what I was going to do and I’ve ended up sticking with it.

How did you hear about Mentoring Young Creatives?

I’ve been aware of Be Well Collective because I’ve known Sarah for a while and then a friend of mine told me that she was going to be one of the other mentors and mentioned it to me asking if I wanted to be one also, and I jumped at the chance.

Why do you want to be a Mentor on the Mentoring Young Creatives programme?

I naturally gravitate towards trying to help people, and being able to draw from my own experiences feels like I can really be a guiding and supporting voice for people.

What past experiences do you have which you believe will help you to mentor a young person in the creative industries?

Having worked in fashion for 13 years I’ve lived abroad, travelled a lot and really been a part of the industry. I’ve grown so much from my own experiences and I hope that in some ways I can pass that on.

What do you hope to achieve from the Mentoring Young Creatives programme?

I think that if I can make someone feel even a little less alone then I’ve done a good job. Just to be there, and to understand.

How do you think your career and health would have been affected had you had the opportunity to be mentored early in your career?

I was very lucky to have a mother who is also a model, so I got some fantastic advice early on in my career. Thankfully I had someone who understood where I was coming from when I’d say things that other people just couldn’t understand because they’d never been in that situation.

What is the best piece of advice that you have been given by a mentor/colleague/friend?

Be kind to everyone. Imagine a glass wall around yourself to let the insults and slights bounce off, remember that your worth is not your appearance - your true worth is measured in who you are as a person - what you put out into the world and how you treat other people.
