Urgent Fundraising Auction

The Ultimate Christmas Shopping Experience

This November from 12th to the 26th, the Be Well Collective invites you to treat yourself and your loved ones to some of the most exclusive, lavish, sought after and just plain fun gifts, to make your Christmas particularly special this year. Even better you won’t even need to leave your sofa, because our charity auction will take place using Givergy, an online auction site which will be live for a full week and automatically update you when you’ve been outbid on an auction lot.

View the online auction platform and auction lots here.

Thanks to some of our favorite people in the luxury and art world including our board members we have secured several truly wonderful auction lots from donors who have been incredibly supportive towards our organization. But while our objective is to uplift, edify and bring a much needed sense of enjoyment to everyone who participates in our charity auction we would like to stress that our underlying fund-raising need is very serious.

Like many other charities we’ve been badly impacted in fund-raising by the Covid pandemic. Of course we understand why. Everyone has been financially impacted by the events of 2020. But at the same time because of the sense of isolation, loneliness and depression resulting from the pandemic and the corresponding economic downturn people are struggling more than ever with the very issues that we address and treat the most. We feel that people need us now more than ever.

Why the auction?

The Be Well Collective is the only charitable initiative in the UK who works to reduce the devastating effects of eating disorders, anxiety, depression and other mental health issues both in the fashion industry and beyond, here in the United Kingdom.

This year, more than ever, mental health in young adults has been severely affected with one-fifth of young adults in Britain considered self-harming or suicide during lockdown. The Centre for Mental Health forecasts an estimated 500,000 more people experiencing mental ill health difficulty over the next year. If the projected second wave of Covid-19 transpires and the economy is damaged further, the effects on mental health will be greater still, and last much longer. During this time we’ve redoubled our efforts to provide solace, education and treatment to young people from the fashion industry, an industry that has been severely affected during this year, with many models and industry professionals out of work for 8 months or longer.

To ensure we can continue to provide in some cases, lifesaving services, the Be Well Collective has created this online auction initiative. All profits made will be donated to the Be Well Collective.

Where and when will the auction be held?

The auction will be held the week commencing the 12th November 2020 at 9am (GMT), ending on 26th November at 9pm.

The auction will be hosted on Givergy.com, an online platform that specializes in hosting online charity auctions. They will accept the payment and then forward the funds directly to the chosen charity. If you win a lot, we will send you proof that your money was sent to the Be Well Collective.

The fun part, what is on the Christmas shopping list..

Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 80th Anniversary Edition

Special 2020 Local Hero Edition for Colonel Tom Moore

On the 80th anniversary of the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date, Oris presented a special edition 40mm case watch, fluted bezel and oversized crown cast in bronze, and a striking green dial. No watch tells the historic tale of independent Swiss watchmaker Oris quite like the iconic Big Crown Pointer Date. It’s a potent symbol of Oris’s philosophy, and some say that without it, Oris might not enjoy its current status as a leader in Swiss Made mechanical watches.

As the Covid-19 pandemic spread around the world, it became clear to Oris that in every country and in every town, there were all kinds of heroic people selflessly serving their communities. Oris invited nominations for Oris Local Heroes and awarded 50 people with an Oris watch to show our appreciation for the doctors, nurses, first responders, teachers, carers, parents etc.

One nomination came from friend of the Be Well Jasmine Hemsley who nominated British Hero Sir Colonel Tom Moore. This watch has been generously donated by Sir Tom Moore’s family back to Oris to be auctioned for Charity and is engraved with his name on the case back. This special edition comes presented in a Oris leather watch roll and includes a special Oris Bear keyring.

Artwork by Cyril Congo

Cyril Kongo's art is based on lettering, i.e. large colourful spray-painted letters, typical of the writing trend of urban art. During his street art period (1986-2000), Kongo painted huge frescoes, on walls and various other supports, in Paris and its suburbs, and also throughout the world. However, the only remaining traces of his works of this period are photos and films. As one of the artists who painted a 50 meters long and 8 meters high wall from Paris to South Bronx, he was recorded in the documentary "Trumac, from Paris to South-Bronx". He was also included in filmmaker Marc- Aurèle Vecchione's documentary "Writers, 20 years of graffiti in Paris,1983-2003".

Breathe by Jessica Bird

"This piece is reflective of a new style of work that I started during lockdown which then developed into a bit of a therapeutic practice. I often incorporate a drawing technique called blind contour drawing into my work - where you only look at the subject and never at your drawing, not taking your drawing implement off the page until you’ve completed the drawing. Not only does it keep the lines free, loose and more intuitive, I find my mind is unable to think about anything else as the brain is completely occupied with hand/eye coordination.

During isolation after watching a programme on Matisse and inspired by Fauvism I started painting these blind drawings with pure colours, not observing realistic or representational colour values - just enjoying the process. This piece in particular is inspired by Roksanda’s latest fashion collection SS21, where she herself explored issues including mental health, loneliness and isolation." - Jessica Bird, artist

Unframed 29.7 x 39.5cm. Charcoal, chalk pastel and acrylic gouache on paper.
